Do not assume every system needs the same certificate.
Article 43 provides different conformity routes. Relevant Annex III systems and product-related systems can follow different procedures, with internal control or notified-body involvement depending on the applicable provisions. A high-risk label alone does not establish one universal third-party certification route.
Have the responsible specialists confirm the route and any interaction with sectoral product legislation. Record the basis so procurement and delivery teams are working towards the same requirement.
Agree the evidence and its owners.
Identify the documentation, evaluations, quality records and other material needed for the selected procedure. Connect each item to a responsible person and a current system version. Ask early about supplier dependencies and information that may take time to obtain.
An evidence index should distinguish missing material, material awaiting review and material that does not yet demonstrate the required point. These are different problems with different next actions.
Keep the assessment record coherent.
A reviewer should be able to follow the relationship between the intended purpose, requirements, technical evidence and release decision. Resolve inconsistencies between documents instead of treating a large file collection as completeness. Record any limitations on the assessed configuration or use.
- Confirmed procedure and responsible parties.
- System version and intended-purpose record.
- Evidence index with review status and gaps.
- Findings, corrective actions and approval conditions.
Consider what happens after the assessment.
Substantial modifications can require a new conformity assessment under the applicable rules. Define how changes reach the responsible reviewer and how the earlier evidence is checked for continued relevance. Avoid assuming that a previous assessment covers every later release or expanded use.
EUAIC can support preparation and action tracking. It is not a notified body, does not issue conformity certificates and cannot replace the formal procedure. Confirm the current requirements and available assessment route with the appropriate specialists.
